La Romana Planning Questions

These answers stay inside what the other pages actually say. They are not supplier policies and they are not a booking desk.

The questions below are also answered, at more length, on the linked pages. If a question is about a company’s policy, a fare, or whether a particular outing is running, it is not answered here because this guide does not have that information.

Questions about this page

Is the cruise terminal the same place as Casa de Campo Marina?

No. Ships use the La Romana cruise terminal at Central Romana Port, on the river between the town and the Casa de Campo estate. The marina is a separate yacht harbour.

Is Casa de Campo the cruise port?

Casa de Campo is the resort estate beside the town. Altos de Chavón sits on that side of the map. The ship does not berth in the estate. Coming ashore does not include resort facilities.

Catalina Island or Saona Island?

Choose Catalina for a smaller island day with a reef and snorkelling character. Choose Saona for the longer beach-day idea, usually discussed with Bayahibe as the boat context. They suit different calls. This site does not rank a product.

What is the difference between the beaches page and the beach excursions page?

Best beaches compares places and commitments. Beach excursions compares how a beach-day outing is structured. They are kept separate on purpose.

What is Altos de Chavón?

A designed stone village above the Chavón River, built in a Mediterranean style in the late twentieth century, associated with Casa de Campo. It is an arts and architecture stop, not a surviving colonial city and not a snorkel site.

Can I combine Catalina Island with Altos de Chavón?

You can plan them as one idea because they are different kinds of stop. Doing both uses more of the cruise day and shortens time at each. This site does not sell a combination and does not say one is running.

Where does Bayahibe fit?

Bayahibe is a southeast coastal village, not the cruise terminal. It is the usual boat-departure context when Saona is discussed from a La Romana call. This guide does not plan Saona as a Punta Cana day.

Should the day stay nearer the terminal or go farther?

Stay nearer if you want the town, Altos or a closer beach-style idea and more margin before all-aboard. Go farther if Catalina or Saona is the point, and accept that the water day will fill more of the call. Confirm how you will get back before you leave the terminal. This guide does not publish a shuttle or a return promise.
